Academic Activities:-Faculty are
involved in teaching, learning
activities of B.Sc. & Certificate
Nursing Programme mainly focusing on
Medical Surgical Nursing, Fundamental of
Nursing & Administration in addition to
coordination of 2nd year B.Sc. & 3rd
year Certificate Nursing
Programme.Besides teaching nursing
students they are also actively involved
in teaching BMIT. (Bachelor of Medical
Imaging Technology).
Service Activities : Overall
aim of this department is to provide
comprehensive nursing care by the
nursing personnel who are knowledgeable,
skilled and compassionate in the wards
under medical surgical nursing
departments. There are about 300 beds
covered by the medical surgical
department which includes emergency
services, medical units, surgical units,
ENT ward, Eye ward, Paying ward,
Orthopaedic ward, Operation Theatre,
along with Speciality services of
Dialysis, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) &
Coronary Care Unit (CCU).Department is
responsible for coordination of all the
wards under medical surgical nursing
Other activities include (but not
limited to):
- Meeting comfort, hygienic &
nutritional needs of the patients
- Following isolation techniques
whenever necessary
- Assisting in diagnostic &
therapeutic procedures
- Attending ward rounds and
carrying out the orders
- Administration of prescribed
medication and monitoring their
effects
- Providing Pre and post operative
care
- Pain control measures
- Taking care of the patients with
ventilators & other life saving
machines, Orthopaedic devices etc.
as per the need
- Formal and informal health
education programmes
Research Activities:-Faculty
of medical surgical department are
actively participating in various
research projects of BPKIHS including
guiding and supervising the research
projects of B.Sc. Nursing students |
