Academic Activities:Faculty are
actively involved in teaching learning
activities of B.Sc. Nursing programme
mainly focusing on community health
nursing and administration, in addition
to coordination of 4th year B.Sc.
Nursing & 1st year Certificate Nursing
throughout the academic year.
Service Activities:The
department has responsibility of
organizing teaching learning and
research activities of student of
nursing education in the community. It
organizes concurrent and residential
field postings for certificate and
graduate nursing students. The
curriculum being a community oriented
and community based, students are
encouraged to participate in the
community based learning activities
throughout the course.
Following activities are carried
out during the community field posting
of nursing students
- Household survey
- Health tracking of each family
members,
- Conducting health awareness
programme
- Detection of high-risk cases &
referral service
- Domicillary midwifery programme
focusing on home delivery of normal
cases
- Antenatal & Postnatal care
- School health programme
- Refreshment training to
traditional birth attendants
- General health camps
- Promotion of safety measures in
industries
- Door to door visits for
identifying the health problems to
take appropriate action
- Health exhibition in community
- Meeting with villagers including
village leaders
Department in coordination with the
other development partners, e.g. plan
international, UNICEF and Red Cross
organizes health programmes that focus
general population at large. Apart from
the community based activities, the
department carries out hospital based
health awareness programmes in all the
outpatient departments of the institute
Research Activities:-Faculty
members of the department are actively
participating in various research
projects related to nursing and in the
field of community health nursing
including guiding B.Sc. Nursing students
in research work |
